What Cuts Are in a Whole Beef?
It can be hard to visualize 400lbs of meat. This is a photo of a 100lb mixed quarter - a whole would be 4 times this amount.

In a standard cut half beef 200lbs is divided into steak cuts and 40 – 4lb roasts. The rest is soup bones, 40lbs of stewing beef and ~160lbs of ground beef.
Roasts you can expect to receive in a standard cut include: cross rib, blade, steak (rump) roast, prime rib, sirloin tip.
Steak cuts you can expect to receive in a standard cut include: T-bone, sirloin, tenderloin, round.
In a standard cut, ground beef and stew beef are in 1lb packages. Bones can be requested if you like making soup or have animals who love them.
How much space will I need in my freezer?
A rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for each 25-35 pounds of cut and wrapped meat. For a whole beef you will require 16-18 cubic feet of freezer space. A milk crate is 1 cubic foot to give you a better visualization.
